Cleric Domain Justifications For A Cleric Of Tiamat?

Di: Stella

I don’t have a picture of him, but my Tempest Cleric of Tiamat would definitely love Joanna. He’s a cold, calculating son of a bitch who loves to tip things further into the hands of chaos, and he’d relish the chance to do so with a fellow worshipper. Sometimes the cleric class branches out from the usual methods and overlaps with realms that other classes usually specialize in. When it comes to knowledge and wisdom, that usually falls to wizards to handle things, but a Knowledge domain cleric can definitely go toe-to-toe with any wizard when it comes to a History check.

Everything you need to know about the deities you can choose from during the cleric class selection in Baldur’s Gate 3, including lore and domains. As described in the chapter 3, though, the Life domain is incredibly broad, and a cleric of any non-evil deity can choose it. A number of other deities, mostly evil ones, suggest the deity can be selected by Death domain, which is detailed in the Dungeon Master’s Guide Nonhuman Deities Compendium – Sources->Dungeons & Dragons->Player’s Handbook (2014) A Cleric’s choice of deity provides access to some unique conversation options throughout the game. I was thinking of replacing them with a wyrmspeaker who is either a cleric of Tiamat (just spent a couple hours homebrewing a draconic domain for clerics of draconic deities) or a warlock connected to storms with a secret pact with Tiamat that the cult doesn’t know about. Now, as a part of the Dark Order, Torogar leads armies and communes with a god, but he’s always down for

Also true for a Githyanki Cleric of Vlaakith meeting Vlaakith. The [Githyanki] choices are interesting and unique, but the [Cleric of Vlaakith] choices are just „lol let’s be evil and kill puppies“, same as you would get as a Cleric of any evil deity. Krull was a tortle cleric of Tiamat.[1] Krull had his entire shell carved with runes of prayers to Tiamat in Draconic.[1] Krull wielded a +1 maul, and carried five potions of healing and two soul coins in a bag.[1] The death-priest has worked very conducted numerous experiments in Arkhan’s Tower in Avernus in an attempt to control the Hand of Vecna wielded by Arkhan. So obviously Dark Urge is a fully customizable origin so you can be any class, but does it make any logical sense for Dark Urge to be a cleric? Seems counterintuitive for a Bhaalspawn to be able to “worship” another god. If you want to play a Tempest Bahamut cleric, you could for example, make Bahamut a Bronze dragon thus explaining the lighting affinity and you only strike fear into sinners or followers of Tiamat.

I’ve heard mechanically you can pick any God to be your patron in BG3, but roleplay-wise that doesn’t necessarily make sense. Talos is the classic pick for a tempest cleric, but idk if I want to play w a Chaotic Evil patron. Are there non-evil patrons connected to storms in BG3? For an upcoming campaign revolving around bringing dragons back to the homebrew world my DM runs in, I am considering building a Tiamat cleric. Unfortunately, the suggested domains for Tiamat, War Spoiler free please! For my Durge playthrough I would like to play a cleric, because I had lots of fun playing Shadowheart. I’ve been spoiled for a bit of durge but I’m still really excited. But I heard somewhere on this Reddit that it’s slightly immersion breaking/not as coherent/etc if you play dark urge cleric/paladin. Is this true? What’s your opinion? No spoilers again pls! I am currently running War Cleric with 2 levels of Vengeance Paladin on Tactician, and getting to use the higher level smites while also getting the great spellcasting of a Cleric, whether it is tossing out a heal or a bless or Spirit Guardians, or even a Guiding Bolt/Sacred Flame when they are out of range has worked very well for me.

I have a player who wants to play a Cleric of Tiamat, and he doesn’t really like the available domains. Sure – Knowledge and Trickery kinda works, but I wonder if there are good homebrewn domains like Dragon or Greed you can recommend? 🙂 While it doesn’t seem likely Durge would be a cleric considering they worship the Life domain Bhaal, I still think them being a cleric could work within the context of the story. An idea for a cleric Durge is that they claimed to be a (Let’s just say Selûne cleric for an example) Selûne cleric because they were actually a Bhaal cleric who knew it wouldn’t go well if they openly admitted to worshipping

We’ve assembled a list of three to five domains per diety for all those listed in Faiths and Pantheons. At times, we’ve added additional domains from those available in NWN2 or MotB to supplement when the choices were too few

I’m not sure if a Cleric of Lawful Good Deities would be opposed to Lae’zel, since Bahamut, the deity that I am eyeing, is heavily opposed to evil creatures, and though Lae’zel is not an ‚evil creature‘, she is a product of a culture that normalises slavery and treat everyone that isn’t them as inferiors (and related to Tiamat).

Dark Urge Cleric/Paladin?

So, I’m writing a heavily dragon-focused homebrew setting at the moment, and among the various dragon gods of the setting are Bahamut, four others, and Tiamat. But I can’t find anything about what Tiamat’s domains would be in 5E. Future-proof your cleric, be freelance. Clerics get their tossing out a heal or powers from the god they worship, not the domain. Gods get power from people who worship them, not people who worship their domain. No god would give power to someone who worships their domain and not them. Also, you have to choose both domain and god in BG3 when making a cleric.
