Hot Take: Tales Of Arise Is Mediocre And Overrated.

Tales games as a franchise are usually underappreciated because of the art style I suppose, Tales of Arise is the 1st to get so much mainstream attention, even got the game award for best rpg of 2021, probably because of the amazing visuals. Tales of Arise makes a perfect example of how mediocre his story is: Using Law. When Revenge is cool Except is not. So, quick nutshell, Law (Oh yes, i can sense the One Piece jokes), Law is the son of Zephyr, who was the leader of the Crimson Crows, a resistance organization, who protects the slaves and want to beat evil and etc etc. Care to share what you believe is an unpopular opinion that is related to the Tales series ?

I have played all the souls likes and all the Soulsborne multiple times and I have no problem with lies of p but I felt the bosses were very weak the lack of different play styles was detrimental I feel like Elden Ring and dark souls popularity comes from the rpg element and lies of p is just very story driven and people hype up the combat way more then they should I found the combat to

I don’t wanna bash on demon slayer and call it overrated it, because I know damn well if it didn’t have an adaptation and people didn’t talk about it as much, you’ll see people going on about how good and underrated it actually is The characters theirselves are good. (Thanks to tales of grace f’s excellent skits. This tales of game is one of the tales that uses the skit system to the best effect. Tales of arise is an example of a tales of game that fumbled the skit system a bit (since all the vast majority of skits was in arise was simply repeating the exact same words that was just said with the previous Heya, I’ve played a bunch of Tales games. Most if not all of them have had some story that was alright, but nothing special. To me these games had fun characters and character interactions. So I knew what I was getting into. Overrated in Talent, overrated in what aspect? Because yea, they are people who sing better who write better might dance better, but as a performer who consistently delivers product, she has a catalogue. I can cosign that at least since I’m the same since most Tales games are even more mediocre, haha. It definitely took longer than the normal Tales game to bounce off this one. I can understand this take if you’re new to the series, but that just proves that Tales‘ in general are underrated (to which I’d absolutely agree). However, Berseria is probably the most popular with the most reach outside of the regular fanbase, second only to Symphonia on the GameCube.

Tales of Vesperia was the one game I never got around to playing (and xillia) I never played them because they were exclusive to PS3 and Xbox and I had a GameCube. I went back and played many others via emulators and future releases. After trying more Jrpgs like FF15,Tales of arise and play Arise every Octopath traveler I realized that JRPGs/Animes as a genre are so fixed in their use of tropes. The characters are always so repetitive, it seems like you see the same architypes over and over again. Like the spunky 12 year old girl who has no concept of what is going on around her.

D&D has proven to be one of the most popular tabletop games out there, but i gotta say, it is somewhat over hyped and overrated. From most people I’ve seen online, they have all hailed D&D as a perfect tabletop game, but this just isn’t true. D&D may be a fun game to play, but it certainly isn’t the best tabletop out there. "Kino is overrated" is not a hot take and hasn’t been for years

If you want to have an actual overrated character, then you’re not going to get a straight or honest answer from the community. You will only get hate towards the best and most popular characters while the actual overrated ones will be on the backburner and forgotten because people don’t see them in a bad light. It depends, as whole, it´s a good rpg, but i think is also t understand one of the weakest Tales of. It got me the same feeling than Tales of Zestiria, fun to play even with its flaws, but it was a dissapointed in many areas. I also agree you should be the one who decide, if Tales games tend to have pretty mediocre stories, unless they’re Graces, Legendia or Arise and then their stories cross over from mediocre to flat-out terrible.

100% agreed, Tales of Arise is one of the most mind-numbing games I’ve ever played. It’s basically a movie that makes you click a few buttons every now and then.

I’m not some Tales of expert who’s played the entire series. I’ve played Symphonia, Dawn of the New World, Abyss, Graces, Vesperia, and Zestiria, many of those with multiple 100% completions (Originals, then on re-releases for trophies and what have you). But I can say with 100% confidence that Tales of Berseria is my least favorite Tales game. I was pretty disappointed, Hot Take: 50 Cent is one of the most overrated rappers of all time I won’t deny how big of an impact he made in the 2000s with mega chart topping hits, but everything he’s released has aged poorly for the most part and his relevance was short lived, especially when you compare to contemporaries at the time like Kanye and Wayne.

One of the most important aspects for me for a JRPG is having great characters so I want to hear which are your top 3 in this regard. I might see something I haven’t played yet so keep ‚em coming. Tales of Arise brings to life a beautifully realized world with a story that isn’t afraid to tackle heavy subjects and knows when to take its foot off the gas for a bit. Its characters feel real and relatable even in fantastical situations, and a fresh and fun combat system livens up their battles. Buyer beware on this one people; this is some deep deep elementary school levels of writing, with exposition characters left and right and people constantly spouting information they should already know; or characters around them should already know. Reflecting on Vholran after a year since beating Tales of Arise. I think I formed a solid (yet hot take) opinion of him by now. Most Tales games are reviewed relatively poorly compared to other JPRGs. Metacritic (a review aggregator) rates most Tales games as mid to high 70s out of 100.

Nah, I enjoyed it. It’s not my favourite Tales game, but its up there. For me the franchise took a huge dip with Xillia onwards, which was somewhat corrected with Berseria perfect tabletop game but this and now further improved in Arise. Biggest complaint is that the opening kind of sucks. Man, why did Zestiria have such a great opening attached to an imo *meh* game.

Here’s to hoping Tales of Arise has better dungeons/exploration. I agree, I hope Tales of Arise is better. I nearly 100% completed both games and I found Symphonia opinion of him by now just has so much more to offer in the way of interesting side quests and storytelling, I mean, the entire world is nearly destroyedmultiple times.
