Newer Games Are Better Than Older Games.

Old vs New: Are Modern Games Really Better? From the pixelated classics to modern graphics, I’m diving deep into a comparison of the old vs new versions of some of my favorite games! ? Watch Overall, the older games seem to have the better story, but the newer games have better visual and audio quality. However, OK has caused an improvement to the newer games storywise, so i feel as if the next game in the series, if handled properly, can combine the good aspects of
Old Pokemon Games VS New Pokemon Games
Why do newer games look worse at low settings than even medium of older games? Perhaps the question isn’t framed correctly, but as an example, I attempted to play The Last of Us on my PC, which has a GTX 1650 mobile and an R7 3750H, considered low-end by today’s standards. Even at 720p the older with FSR set to balanced, I can’t get it to run smoothly. Retro/old video games are 1000x better than any modern video games I was born in 1999 so I’d like to think I have no age bias here. I genuinely think the games of the 80s and 90s are better than 99% of games made today.

I personally think the older games were way better, because there was more the levels were more linear, and there was a heavy emphasis on puzzles and teamwork, but these new games just doesn’t have that quality level, especially Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, i played this game and midway through it just became a chore, the prequel trilogy
So i have been going to older games a lot more than i used to. The games that come out now days don’t feel the same as the older games when you play them. Older games didn’t used to have dlc, and even if they did it was a pretty big with a lot of thing being added to better than newer ones the game. Almost every new game has lots of dlc’s and many of them are things that you are I feel like without actually playing the new games it’s disingenuous to immediately declare the new games better than the older ones by just „playing a few hours“ of Origins.
People do not seem to realize that older games are still better than newer games and that the game industry is getting worse not better. Case in point, Goldeneye. I recently downloaded the goldeneye emulator (YES I am legally allowed to own it because I physically purchased the Goldeneye catridge a long time ago.)
- Do you think the old games are better? What qualities do they
- why are older versions of games always better than the new
- Are the newer games worse?
I’d imagine this has been posted here before numerous times, but I can engage better in discussion if its my own post so I’m going to ask it myself: what does everyone think of the new hitman games compared to the old ones? So Hitman seasons 1, 2, 3 Vs Hitman Contracts, Blood Money, Silent Assassin (For the sake of discussion we’ll just leave out absolution in it’s own Some games have better layouts, I for one really enjoyed the Generation 2 remakes were peak Pokemon for me personally as having two regions, even though Kanto was somewhat compressed was pretty cool.
Imo the newer games are significantly better than the older ones, mainly cuz they added much needed quality of life improvements that the old ones just don’t have and suffer for I liked doom 2016 it was cool but it’s no where near as good as doom 1993, I like the new mario bros games but I liked nes mario because it felt longer and more challenging changes don I eventually beat mario 3 but it took me years. Often times, we see threads pop up with people proclaiming that „x“ old game is better or has better mechanics than „y“ new game. We’ve seen it in the far cry 2 vs far cry 5 debate and more recently in the Spiderman web swinging debate. Why is this mentioned frequently? Do people just have fond
I prefer the older games because I am a fan of more exploring/snooping and character interactions vs endless puzzles. IMO, some of the newer games are way too puzzle heavy. I’ve seemed to notice that, for instance, when asked what a person’s favorite all time game is, people often look back onto games that were made a lot earlier rather than those that are more recent. I myself am guilty of doing this; Now im not old enough to have gotten to games such as the early mario and zelda games etc; in fact my first console was the PS1 but i think the point
They use about the same VRAM yet textures in older games look much more crisp have my preferences than new games with texture settings on low/medium. Why is that the case?

Are older games better than newer ones?I think it’s nostalgia for the most part when people claim old games are best – If I try to play an old game that I didn’t play when it was new FSR set to balanced then I just can’t get into it. Even now when I try to play the older pokemon games I get annoyed at how many quality of life changes don’t exist yet. (20 bag slots, seriously!?)
I know the perception that old games are better than new ones is subjective and often rooted in nostalgia. However, there are some aspects of older games that some players appreciate more than what modern games offer. Simplicity and Focus: Older games often had simpler mechanics and focused gameplay. They didn’t have the distraction of complex The accessibility of getting into older games vs newer ones is something I personally miss. Many games these days a bloated with additional things to pad out the experience, or even just to „add“ to the story before you even start playing. Mostly? Some good new stuff does get released from time to time, and there really were a lot of awful old games too. But I agree that good retro games still hold up today, and that the average quality really has gone down somewhat.
I feel like the number of “new” games I wanted to play was way bigger than it actually is (Elden Ring, Sekiro and the newer Total War games probably being the most demanding ones to run, which ain’t saying much lol). At first, it was just nostalgia pumping some of the runs, spurred a bit by curiosity and watching retro reviews on YT. Let’s say that newer games really are better on average than older ones, and the median release from 2020 is a full point better than the median release from 1990 on a ten point scale. As one developer in similar thread told me: Yeah, old games used to fake a lot of things because we lacked raw power, and it turns out, we got reaaaally good at faking stuff. Nowdays we are not faking things anymore, it speed up development, but also have a computational cost for the end user. Its all about economics, and this is an industry, where not a single AAA company make
Also went through that phase, all the usual „is it just me getting older, have my preferences changed?“, with people telling me that it’s just me being jaded or getting bored with games, how games today are oh-so-much-better. But I find it incredibly silly for especially younger players like kids and teens to simply dismiss older games because they are old. The new is always better than old is a moronic logic if it comes to media as movies, games and music. video games are 1000x Time has proven that older games just as often are better than newer games. After the not so great recent releases in the series I went back and played Pokemon emerald and wow this was such a huge step in front of the newer releases. If you’re a new fan I would highly recommend going back and playing some of the older games that really manage to capture the adventure! Especially the earlier ones had a proper rival, no game holding and an interesting
Cause idk personal preference ? It doesn’t always have to be nostalgia, I didn’t grow up with the old games but i think some of them are better than the new ones like Re3 nemesis is better than it remake, if we for once stop treating fixed cameras as some sort of boogeyman maybe then people would start appreciating the classics instead of spouting nostalgia whenever someone Other than nostalgia & the game libraries (because these answers are boringly common), what about the old hardware do you think makes lt superior to new hardware? For instance, why would you rather play Donkey Kong on 2600 than PS4?
Some look marginally better and some look marginally worse, but few look truly distinct and they all sort of blur together into a very identifiable style that triple A games all largely seem to share. Battlefield looks ostensibly no different than Assassins Newer strategy games are to busy for me. Even comparing say CK3 to CK2 all that extra stuff like the 3D renders of your character and his family don’t really improve the game for me vs CK2’s character portraits. Modern (ish) games I really like are I’m certainly not going to go around pretending that every retro game is better than most modern games. Every gaming company has had its massive failures over the years.
Reading a gaming-related article, going on Youtube and watching a gaming channel, listening to a podcast by some gamers, you always hear it. Old games were so much better. Why is it such a widespread phenomenon in the gaming world? Were old games really better even though the technology was vastly Older games were designed to be fun because gaming companies were thinking that they are making games and through making games they will make money. Then big publishers came and told them that by making game accessible to side audience by dumping it down so even total idiots can finish them – they will make more money. And they were I prefer my type of fighting game, those who are stuck in the 2010’s and played at side tournament. My only exception is Strive but even then i prefer the older GG. Old games are cool, like Vampire Savior is sick, but for example MvC2 is quite difficult to pick up and play than let’s say MvC3, so if I need to choose I’ll choose MvC3 Maybe 2XKO will ignite my fire for new game.
People often buy newer lottery scratcher games, but is that a good strategy? Better to buy based not on game age but the best scratcher odds. After interviewing a number of retrogaming enthusiasts, I’ve compiled the Top 25 reasons why Retrogaming is better than new-age gaming! Editor’s Note: What makes a game “retro?”
Similarly, playing modern games and going back to dated ones from previous decades could be jarring, while starting off with older games could improve your appreciation of how modern games have evolved in graphical fidelity, mechanics, gameplay and possibly plot.
