It is operated by Carmel (Boston native) and her husband Italian husband Pino. We loved it. It was less than a 10 minute walk from the train station, and we walked everywhere in Florence from the hotel. The restaurant across the street, Osteria Vecchio Cancello is fabulous and is worth making a reservation. We would stay here again.

Nestled in the heart of Florence, Osteria Vecchio Cancello offers an authentic taste of Tuscany in a charming, rustic setting. This beloved local eatery serves up traditional Tuscan dishes prepared with the freshest regional ingredients, capturing the essence of Florentine culinary heritage. From hearty ribollita to succulent bistecca alla fiorentina, each plate is a celebration of the region I’m gonna spend 5 days in the city (my hotel is in the centre) and i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on nice cheap/affordable restaurants and food in general. I know in cities like Florence most of the ones you find dead in the centre are touristy and very expensive and not really great, so if you know more authentic ones I’d be really grateful!
