This Wednesday, the Harrow Lunch Club brought the festive spirit to life with a fun and flavourful Diwali celebration. Our incredibly talented member Geeta shared her culinary expertise with us, cooking the club a fantastic lunch with the help of our brilliant volunteers. The feast included Saag Paneer, rice, potatoes, and freshly made samosas – all from scratch! Remark! Community had a fantastic time at City Lit’s Deaf Day, sharing our 14 projects with hundreds of Deaf community members and hearing signers, and celebrating our upcoming 15th anniversary!

The Sign Club takes place every Monday from 5pm-7pm in our Lounge. This is an informal session where BSL students of all levels can meet up and our Youth Club for practice their BSL skills. On Thursday 23rd July, the members of our Lunch Clubs met at Kelsey Park for a social young members took part in distance meet up. A thrilling day of Archery for our Saturday Club Kids!

Badminton Clubs We now run two weekly badminton clubs catering to both Deaf and hearing individuals who use British Sign Language (BSL). Monday evenings are in Grove Park and Tuesday evenings take place in Walthamstow. These clubs are a unique opportunity for two communities to come together through exercise and sport. Don’t have a racket? Don’t worry! Remarkable weekly club for Deaf Club is a weekly club for Deaf adults that runs every Tuesday afternoon in the Lounge at Remark!, 18 Leather Lane, EC1N 7SU. Remarkable! club offer a range fun-filled activities include hiking around London, visiting museums and outdoor games. Camden Lunch Club’s enlightening visit to The Brunel Museum unveils the history of London’s pioneering Thames Tunnel.

Remark! Community is a small Deaf led charity which was set up in 2010 to support the Deaf Community around London. Remark’s charity arm, Remark! Community, invests in the Deaf community through the UK’s biggest collection of Deaf Clubs. Through children’s playschemes, youth clubs, sport clubs and our many of our highly popular over 55s Lunch clubs, Remark! Community provides social spaces for Deaf people of all ages. We aim to enrich their lives and seek to reduce the isolation and loneliness

Remark! Community Remark! is proud to reinvest profits back into the Deaf community via our charity arm Remark! Community. The aim of Remark! Community is to reduce isolation for Deaf people of all ages. Volunteering with Remark! Community is a fantastic way to get involved in the Deaf Community whether you are a BSL student or Deaf On Saturday 10th June 2023, crowds will be gathering together to celebrate this special 30th anniversary with a badminton tournament and evening dinner. It’s set to be an outstanding event with badminton clubs attending from Remark!, Bexley, Hayes, Surbiton, Cabra (Dublin), Nottingham and Wolverhampton!

Thursday 28th November marked the opening of the fourth Remark! Community lunch club. Remark! Community have recently received three years worth of funding from the National Lottery to establish 2 new lunch clubs. We hosted the opening of our Camden lunch club on Friday 11th October, however this time, it was Richmond’s turn! We had a fantastic turn out, Remark! Community is a small Deaf-led charity supporting the Deaf Community around London. Their main objective is to reduce isolation within what is already a marginalised and isolated community. They provide a variety of different projects to suit the needs of all members and to ensure that everybody feels welcome. Our Camden Lunch Club was launched on Friday, 11th October in the lounge at our Remark! Office. It was great to see the room filled with over 30 people! The hall was decorated with Lottery Community Fund banners and photos of our long-running Beckenham and Eltham lunch club.

On Sunday, July 21st, our Parent and Children group had an unforgettable picnic at the beautiful Diana Memorial Playground. The event saw ten families come together for a day of fun, laughter and food! All eyes were on our Badminton Players this weekend for our first thrilling Have you got what it badminton tournament of 2024; featuring experienced players, casual players and new players alike! In the showdown, featuring 40 players from North, South, and Bexley clubs, the Cup and Plate Finals took centre stage with heart-stopping 21-20 finishes. Remark!’s own Jessica

Remarkable Club members were full of excitement as we headed to Margate! Everyone was looking forward to enjoying the bench views, fish and chips, and spending time at the arcades and the day didn’t disappoint. A special part of the trip was our visit to Margate Deaf School. Five of our members shared their personal stories and memories of the building and Remark! Community had a fantastic time at City Lit’s Deaf Day, sharing our 14 projects with hundreds of Deaf community members and hearing signers, and celebrating our upcoming 15th anniversary! London 4d??
