Is this what Southeast Alaskans refer to as a „sucker hole?“ Archived Sport Fishing Report August 01, 2025 General Area Description: All waters between Cape Fairfield and Cape Suckling, including salt waters within 200 miles of shore. Freshwater Fishing Salmon Sockeye are showing up in Alaganik Slough in Cordova in fishable numbers. Anglers are reporting good success throughout the slough while floating and at the launches.

Archived Sport Fishing Report May 29, 2024 Freshwater Fishing Salmon The first king salmon was caught late last week, and anglers had success over Memorial Day weekend. Fishing is off to a good start but will be slow this early in the run. Anglers are catching a few king salmon each day by casting spinners or soaking roe behind a spin-and-glow during the incoming and outgoing Ice fishing is typically done with light tackle and with the use of an “auger” to open a hole in the ice. Remember, most lakes in the Juneau area are off limits to the use of bait so be sure to check the regulations after selecting a place to fish.

Lingcod Lingcod fishing is open in the Yakutat area. Fishing has been excellent so far. Please check the department website for the recent emergency order and advisory annoucements regarding changes to lingcod regulations in the Yakutat management area. September 07, 2024 September is here and fall coho are moving into the area in greater numbers. Marine fishing continues to be productive further information for coho, pinks, halibut, lingcod and rockfish. Freshwaters Sockeye Salmon Sockeye salmon have entered the Situk River in large numbers and have distributed themsleves throughout the whole river. So Following Board of Fisheries action taken during January of 2015, freshwater drainages crossed by the Juneau Road System that are open to sport fishing were opened year-round to king salmon fishing with a bag and possession limit of 4 fish of any size. King salmon caught by nonresidents in these drainages do not count toward their annual limit.
